- Actively contribute to the GRS strategic dialogue, including the development of the long-term business strategy.
- Support the alignment of business segment strategies with the overall GRS vision and strategy by partnering closely with business unit Strategy Leaders.
- Work closely with GRS Chief Strategy Officer, Strategy Leaders, Finance, Underwriting, Actuarial, and GRS LT throughout the strategic planning process.
- Collaborate with business unit Strategy Leaders and Strategic Program Management team to help identify business issues that drive additional strategic initiatives and proactive analyses.
- Support GRS strategic initiatives, ensuring quality of work and proper communication among key stakeholders.
- Actively monitor and analyze market trends and the competitive landscape and share insights with the Innovation & Insights team and the broader department.
- Produce and lead executive-level communication pieces, both internal and external.
- Prepare presentations for the board of directors and other internal and external constituents.
- Aid and support GRS Strategy & Planning staff members in their professional development
- Strategy Experience: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of either strategy consulting experience from a top-tier management consulting firm or corporate strategy / corporate development experience from a relevant insurance carrier with a strong track record of success. 1-2+ years of experience managing project teams is required.
- Insurance Experience: The right fit candidate will have a passion for and significant exposure to insurance, ideally commercial & specialty insurance. Surety experience is a plus.
- Relevant Functional Experience: The ideal candidate will have spent the majority of their time focused on a variety of strategic topics, including but not limited to growth strategy, strategy execution, M&A, operating model redesign, etc.
- Structured & Logical Thinking: Superior critical thinking skills are critical to this role, including the ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and demonstrate the ability to discern what is important and draw valid conclusions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional presentation skills and high emotional intelligence is critical. Experience partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders is required.
- Analytical Aptitude: Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Strength in developing data-driven perspectives and presenting insights to business leaders in key.
- Education: The right candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from a top academic institution with a demonstrated record of academic success. MBA is preferred, but not required
- Bachelor`s degree in business administration, marketing, operations management, computer science or other related field
- MBA or other relevant advanced degree desired
- Minimum 10 years of relevant general business experience, to include experience with consulting, strategic planning, finance, and evaluation of the economics of an insurance business
- Strong understanding of the commercial and specialty (re)insurer market, potentially showcased by professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, ARe, etc
- Excellent communication skills
- Expert influencing skills, with a strong ability to build consensus among multiple levels and functions within the organization
