- Prioritize requests for sample collection based on urgency
- Collect patients’ personal information
- Determine the correct venipuncture method for each patient
- Provide patients with reassurance during the collection process
- Use sterilized needles, vials, and other equipment to draw blood
- Correctly label samples and send them for testing
- Draws blood samples as requested by physician orders
- Research test information, and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing the lab directory of services
- Organizes and processes requisition forms
- Maintain supplies
- Keeps Phlebotomy work area neat, clean, and well-stocked
- Maintains a specimen log to ensure all results have been received by the physician in a timely fashion
- Performs other rapid tests requested by the provider
- Performs maintenance and record keeping
- Performs quality controls and Proficiency testing.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Certified Phlebotomy Training Course completion and certificate preferred
- Minimum 2 year of Pediatric Phlebotomy experience.
- Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
- Familiarity with the legal requirements regarding blood draws and fluid samples
- Knowledge of best practices in patient identification methods
- Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong computer and data entry skills
- Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in English
