HybridPurpose of Role: The Hydraulics Engineer will be responsible for taking leadership in the design of new slurry pumps and product improvement using hydraulic design and operation knowledge with a focus in enhancing pump performance and wear characteristics. We believe in fairness and choose to be honest, transparent and authentic in everything we do.Key Responsibilities:Pump Hydraulic Design: Apply pump hydraulic design and operations experience to understand and improve slurry pumping and other Weir Minerals equipment.Optimization and Validation: Provide optimization of hydraulic design using hydrodynamics as well as computer simulation and validating simulation models by prototyping and trials. Lead in the analysis, evaluation and provision of recommendations on pump performance test results, providing verification.Research Initiatives and Tools: Identify and lead research initiatives and understand use of/limitations of hydraulic design tools and methods.Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Respond to technical enquiries from customers and related Weir Minerals teams and help with troubleshooting, traveling to site as required to assist end users.Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world class safety culture.Job Knowledge/ Education and Qualifications:Master's degree (engineering) or Bachelor's with pump hydraulic design experience5+ years of rotodynamic pump experienceFamiliarity with multiphase CFD and particle transport modelingFounded in 1871, Weir is a world leading engineering business with a purpose to make mining operations smarter, more efficient and sustainable.
