What you'll doThe Life Safety and Compliance Officer will be responsible for planning, organizing and managing the six Environment of Care (EOC) plans, Statement of Conditions, Electronic Statement of Conditions (eSOC), Life Safety deficiencies, and Categorical Waiver review related to CMS standards. Provides oversight for hazardous materials, decontamination and will provide guidance or fill the role of Safety Officer. Provides Fire Safety resources and planning to Bassett Medical Center as well as Bassett Healthcare Network (Bassett Medical Center, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, O'Connor Hospital, Little Falls Hospital, A. O. Fox Hospital, Regional Maintenance offsites). Takes the lead in construction projects as it relates to Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM). The Life Safety and Compliance Officer is accountable for providing optimal customer relations, operational support, project code review, and works with facilities to create corrective actions for life safety, Compliance and EOC findings. Ensures the safe, clean, effective, and efficient operation and maintenance of all facilities and mechanical, electrical and building systems. Provides guidance and leadership to the Environmental Safety officer, and will provide consultative guidance in Code Activations, Incident Command situations and leadership for all staff safety. Actively engages in the planning and implementation of capital projects to support continued operations and development in the categories of renovations and new construction. Develops and implements policies at the corporate and department level.
- Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the 6 EOC plans, SOC and life safety for the network.
- Assists the executive leadership of facilities in the management and direction of the Network, including setting priorities, coordinating, and reporting group activities.
- Provides senior technical leadership to Bassett Healthcare Network.
- Support the executive leadership of facilities in the development and execution of objectives, strategies and tactics for information resources management for Bassett Healthcare Network.
- Support the executive leadership of facilities in the coordination of the development and implementation of Bassett‘s strategic plans.
- To provide leadership in the development and implementation of the annual department operating plan, including operating and capital budgets, to ensure effective unit performance and contribution to corporate objectives.
- To plan new and replacement systems that are sensitive to organizational needs and ensure efficient accomplishment of objectives, and secure resources as necessary.
- Assess and communicate risks associated with equipment and newly acquired buildings.
- Assist in the development of business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for facility spending and initiatives.
- Review maintenance contracts.
- Assist in defining and communicating corporate procedures, policies, and standards.
- Conduct research to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable in regard to industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Assists in developing departmental performance improvement plans and participates as directed in the Bassett Performance Improvement Program.
- To develop unit policies, procedures, plans, and activities, ensuring that they are within acceptable standards for facilities.
- To identify performance issues resulting from actions or work performed by the Bassett Healthcare Network.
- To identify and correct problems within Corporate Support Services which interfere with customer satisfaction and recommend action be taken when outside of own authority.
- To develop programs, policies, or services that increase the satisfaction of our internal and external customers.
- To establish methods of identifying levels of customer satisfaction and to use these as a basis for planning and action.
- To ensure the resources necessary to support cost effective program and service expansions.
- Ensure operations adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
- Conduct EOC rounding in concert with the Director of Facilities and documentation supporting findings and corrections.
- Assist in fire drills and fire drill scheduling.
- Performs other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager.
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- 4 year/Bachelor's degree, preferred
- Minimum 8 years professional experience in facilities management, required
- Minimum 3 years experience in a healthcare setting, required
- OSHA 30 hour course certification or obtain within 9 months of hiring, required
- Valid, Clean New York State Drivers License, required
- TJC Base comp training certification and/or NFPA 101 Life Safety code class, required

Pay RangeSalary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum:USD $89,576.05/Yr.
Pay Range Maximum:USD $134,364.07/Yr.
