The primary function of ISP’s Inclusion Classroom Lead Teacher is to: Develop, implement and monitor Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) to meet the academic and/or adaptive needs of students in the Inclusion Classroom Program. This program serves students with moderate to severe needs. Lead and coordinate the Inclusion Aides’ support of the students in the program Collaborate among ISP teams, families, and outside providers to ensure gains are being made in all areas of the student’s programming. Provide learning opportunities for the students within the classroom setting, working harmoniously with the administrative staff and parents in support of the ISP teaching philosophy, school policy, regulations, objectives and goals. The Inclusion Classroom Program at ISP: ISP prides itself on being an inclusive school that responsibly meets the needs of the student populations that it serves. Over the years, ISP has been broadening the scope of its inclusion policy to include a neurodiverse population of students with high adaptive and educational needs. The Inclusion Classroom Program was developed as a subdivision of the Learning Support department to meet the needs of our neurodiverse learners. Students in the Inclusion Classroom Program require intensive programming and the additional support of an Inclusion Aide to access the curriculum and social activities at ISP. All students in the inclusion classroom are integral members of their homeroom community and participate within it to the maximum extent possible. They also benefit from a supplemental classroom space with fewer distractions to work on their modified goals as needed. What you’ll do: Provide neurodiverse learners the most appropriate program within the academic environment of ISP. Develop an Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for all students in the Inclusion Classroom Program and a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) for every student who requires intensive behavioral support. Consider academic and adaptive needs when developing individualized goals for students. Adaptive support encompasses social skills, independence and behavioral needs. Develop individualized student schedules to define their participation in the least restrictive environment and the support requirements to achieve participation. Teach and work with students an average of 4 periods a day. This can be an in-class or a pull out program. Ongoing data collection and analysis to monitor student growth and make necessary adjustments to intervention programs Coordinate and lead meetings to update stakeholders on student progress Collaborate with outside professionals (neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior analysts, etc.) to align child-centered support Maintain systems to document student progress, disseminate information, and file student records. Support and continually foster understanding and skills with and within the school community of how to work with students with needs in a compassionate way that creates opportunities for mutual growth. Participate in DSS meetings in representation of the Inclusion Classroom Lead and provide ongoing coaching to the Inclusion Aides to promote student growth Work in conjunction with the other Learning Support Specialists to maintain/update the Learning Support Program at ISP Lead and collaborate with the student support team to develop behavioral interventions plans for students in need of behavioral support. Complete other duties assigned.RequisitosBasic Qualifications for the Job At least 5 years of experience in relevant subject area or grade level. Bachelor or Master Degree in Special Education with teaching experience as per above. Training and experience supporting student behavior, including collecting date on behavior, writing behavior plans and implementing the plan. High level of English proficiency. Cross cultural sensitivity and an international mindset. Previous experience in an international school is desirable.
