Work with departments to error proof processes.Responsibilities*Performs inspection of incoming raw materials and finish parts from suppliers to determine
conformance prescribed by contracts, agreements and/or purchase orders utilizing general
metrology practices.
*Performs reviews of material test reports described by drawings and/or purchase orders.
*Performs functions to enter the results on PC terminal. Assigns heat codes and identifies
material accordingly.
*Writes inspection reports.
*Documents and identifies non-conformances. Communicates with appropriate levels of
personnel both external and internal to resolve and close non-conformances and corrective
actions.
*Performs first article, in-process and final inspections. Documents results as appropriate on
checklists, inspection reports and/or shop travelers.
*Assists maintaining the gage calibration program, working with calibration and gage
suppliers.
*Schedules and works with the Authorized Inspector as required for production requirements.
*Uses performance measurements to effectively evaluate trends in RPPM, Material Return
Authorizations (MRA's) and COQ. Is responsible for working with the appropriate
employees, supervision and manufacturing engineering in a team effort to error proof
processes and reach RPPM and COQ goals for the individual value streams.
  • Analyzes customer returns and document the findings.
*Works from general assignments and proceeds with minimum supervision and direction.
*May instruct, train and assist other employees, including but not limited to inspection
trainees.
*Requires judgment beyond and limitations of general methods and standards.
*Works from drawings, specifications, procedures and work instructions.
*Uses advanced shop mathematics and a variety of inspection tools, gages and devices which
require interpretation in various applications.
*Performs proper and safe material handling utilizing overhead cranes with lifting devices.
*Maintains a high degree of quality and safety and keeps work area clean.
*Performs these and other duties as requested by the Quality Manager/Quality Engineer.Physical Demands & Work Environmentv Employee is required to sit, stand, and walk on a daily basis on a daily basis throughout the employee’s shift.v Ability to lift and/or move equipment/material/supplies up to 40 pounds regularly. Lift assistance required to be used at 41 pounds or more.v When production equipment/material/supplies are needed by assembly, or to fill production orders employees will be required to balance, bend, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, pull, push, squat, or stoop on a daily basis throughout the employee’s shift.v Employee will need to use arms, fingers and hands to handle, feel, or grab equipment/materials/supplies on a daily basis throughout the employee’s shift.v Proper PPE is stated and should be worn at all times when on the manufacturing floor.vPAdditional CommentsThe essential functions have been provided as examples of the type of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
