- The Data Citizens and Stewardship
- Deep dives into the data and connects the dots through the data lineage and operational workflows
- Reads and interprets scripting code to understand logic supporting terms, metrics, and measures
- Partners with technical and operational subject matter experts to align on data details
- Curates and maintains metadata, rules, and change management documentation
- Facilitates consensus of key business terms and definitions across business operational areas
- Seeks to resolve issues among stakeholders with minimal escalation
- Documents and escalates unresolved data stewardship issues where appropriate
- Helps operations understand and document their workflows that impact data and analytics
- Supports others in the daily use of the Data Governance tools
- Ensures adherence to data management principles / quality standards
- Primary contact for data stewardship workflows, creation / maintenance of data assets in the Glossary
- The Taxonomy
- Manages the Data Governance Taxonomy
- Pursues collaborative partnership with Taxonomy stakeholders to effectively manage key data assets
- Engages operational and clinical leaders to drive decision making
- The Data Governance Program
- Provides input on processes and procedures that support enterprise data management policies
- Partners with operations and InfoSec to review, identify, and manage data-related risks and issues
- Partners with operations and IT to include data governance into existing processes
- Participates in the quarterly Advisory Forums, including formal presentations
- 4 + years’ experience in healthcare business analytics / operations, IT, data analysis or data quality
- Experience with data produced and used for healthcare clinical, operational, billing or claims workflows
- Epic Certification(s) or ability to obtain certification within the first 6 months of hire
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Technology; or combination of equivalent education and work experience
- In-depth knowledge of one or more healthcare related data systems
- Experience working with hospital electronic medical records, preferably Epic
- Ability to understand hospital-specific use cases and their business / technical requirements
- Ability to recognize and diagnose data quality issues and advocate for usability improvements
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information as well as business information
- Ability to create and maintain metadata according to standard work protocols
- Ability to grow skills and adapt to new technology
- Ability to identify the problem needing solved and critically think through solutions
- Ability to achieve and maintain mastery of Data Governance Tools
- Capability to learn and develop skills in scripting languages such as SQL and Python to comprehend Analysts code
- Understanding of basic data structure, integration, and relationship database design
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies and Lean process improvement
- Proficient in Microsoft tools (such as Teams, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
- High integrity and alignment to OhioHealth values and Associate Behavior Competencies
- Self-motivated, with the ability to help set the direction and drive that direction successfully
- Comfort working in the gray as we define new processes
- Curious about understanding the ‘whys’ with attention to details
- Strong organizational skills along with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop strong relationships and influence change as a change agent
- Successfully negotiate and collaborate with others from varying roles, background, and skillset
- Previous experience with business glossary or data catalog tools such as Informatica Axon, Collibra or Alation
- Participation in data governance processes
