DescriptionThis position involves loader and yard operations. Ancillary duties will include paperwork and general maintenance related to the loader, managing materials inventory, yard cleanup, and plant maintenance. This is a skilled position requiring the operator to load material/aggregate/soils into transport vehicles or crushing and screening plants. Operators filling crushers and screen plants are responsible for materials of proper classification to be fed continually. The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.Essential Functions:
  • Operates a front-end loader and other heavy equipment as needed for Knight's Companies ensuring that material is properly moved to the bins for use in making concrete.
  • Maintains and operates the front-end loader and other equipment in accordance with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Follows all safety procedures and policies to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Ensures bins are filled according to the job's specifications and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a clean, debris-free yard, Connex, ramp, front-end loader, and plant site.
  • Communicates efficiently, effectively, and courteously with peers, superiors, and vendors to ensure the proper handling of the products.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all company personnel to ensure plants are properly serviced.
  • Knows the rules of the plant prior to operating the front-end loader.
  • Operates the front-end loader according to all the legal and policy guidelines to protect the employee, the community, and the company.
  • Attends all safety meetings to gain a broader understanding of safety issues that will assist in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Portrays a positive and accommodating attitude towards peers, superiors, and vendors.
  • Must be able to take orders, instructions, and guidance from supervisors and management.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of the mechanical functioning of various components on the equipment and make necessary repairs related to the equipment as they occur.
  • Must be able to understand service and repair manuals relating to equipment and/or parts.
  • Management of materials inventory at acceptable levels.
  • Charging plant with raw materials with wheel loader pursuant to plant output expectations
  • Ensure that Trucking drivers dump materials into the proper pits.
  • Performs general maintenance at the batch plant such as shoveling, greasing, and other mechanical duties. Follows General Plant Maintenance sheets. Load ice into mixer trucks during the summer months as needed.
  • Remove material from pits once per week for cleaning.
  • Empty out all outside trash cans and place trash and empty fiber boxes in the proper receptacles.
  • Maintain the reclaimer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Prior experience operating Heavy Equipment is required.
  • Good communication, aptitude, and decision-making.
  • Minimum of one year of experience safely operating a front-end loader.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed.
  • Maintain Loader Operator License.
  • A Commercial Driver's License is preferred but is not required.
  • Prior experience in ready-mixed concrete is preferred but not required
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 60 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift, stretch, push, pull, twist, kneel, stand, walk, sit, and reach.
  • Ability to safely climb up and down stairs and/or ladders.
  • Ability to work primarily outside, with exposure to the extremes of hot or cold weather.
