- Reviewing plans specifications and Documentation: Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and testing results related to construction materials.
- Utilizing MetafieldĀ®: Utilize field and laboratory information management systems efficiently for data organization.
- Equipment: Maintain accuracy of field and laboratory tools to meet industry standards.
- Special Inspection observations: Adhere to International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.
- Communicate with stakeholders: Engage with management, contractors, and clients to relay project progress and address concerns.
- Quality and Safety: In your role, you ensure the successful placement and utilization of construction materials, guaranteeing projects are "built right" while contributing to safety and integrity through adherence to calibration standards and inspection protocols and testing.
- Client satisfaction: Foster trust and transparency through effective communication, ensuring client satisfaction and project success.
- A high school diploma/GED
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials OR 1 year of related experience plus vocational training OR an associate degree in a related field with no experience
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
- The ability to complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device
- One or more active certifications:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
- International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
- DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough and uneven terrain
- Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
