As such, we in the Advanced Product Solutions Directorate provide the United States Government and International Partners with remote sensing systems, for time critical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations. Our ISR Information and Intelligence Engineering group develops the algorithms and software for processing, optimizing, and creating intelligence products from these sensors.We are seeking a Principal Image Scientist to work on our team. Applying candidates should have advanced knowledge of electro-optical (EO) remote sensing systems, an expert understanding of image & meta-data processing, and what constitutes excellent image quality. They should have experience with a prototyping language, such as Matlab or IDL. C++ experience would be a plus. Knowledge of the factors that contribute to high-precision geo-accuracy, knowledge of Community Sensor Models (CSM), and being familiar with the tagged record extensions (TRE) in the National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) are also a plus. Applicants should have experience leading projects or developing maintainable processes. They will be expected to drive project direction and completion, within budget and schedule. They will participate on proposals and interface with customers as subject matter expert (SME). They will be expected to review the work of others and mentor as needed.As a team member, you will be working on state-of-the-art imaging systems with some of the most advanced capabilities available. The selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set a schedule. However, working from home will be on a non-interference basis.Responsibilities to Anticipate:Develop new functionality and optimize current imaging capabilities.Manage and technically contribute to project definition, design, and implementation.Breakdown project tasks from requirements.Develop algorithms in Matlab or IDL.Develop unit tests and validation tests.Write clear concise documentation.Contribute to an agile team-oriented environment.Obtain and maintain additional program access as required.Basic Qualifications:Typically requires Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 8 years’ of prior work experience OR an Advanced degree and a minimum 5 years’ of prior work experience.Image systems engineering experience.Experience with Department of Defense (DOD) EO sensors.Experience with Matlab and/or ENVI/IDL (Interactive Data Language).Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
