SUMMARY The Manager, Advancement Communications will be responsible for crafting strong, persuasive narratives for grant applications and reporting, as well as providing general communications support for advancement needs. This role will serve as the chief storyteller for the law school’s advancement and alumni engagement efforts, and will ensure a cohesive narrative to inspire alumni and friends to support the law school.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Serve as the chief storyteller for the organization’s fundraising and alumni engagement efforts.Oversee and manage an organizational grant calendar to ensure adherence to application and reporting deadlines for institutional funding entities, both public and private.Thoroughly review and document grant agreements and donor requirements to ensure full compliance and reporting.Partner with business units across the organization to gather and synthesize information for regular reporting needs, develop persuasive narratives, and create strategic and compelling illustrations of need to support funding requests.Produce persuasive and strategic collateral material (ie: proposals, stewardship reports, and brochures) that support campaign efforts to raise significant funds for law school priorities.Prepare written correspondence that strengthens and bolsters alumni and donor relationships with the law school.Collaborate with the Marketing/Communications department as needed to develop content and materials for applications and required reporting.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESN/AQUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Minimum of three years of experience in grant or proposal writing, technical writing, or fund development. Experience in an institution of higher education, or an environment of similar complexity, is preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to distill complex information concisely and craft coherent, persuasive narratives with data and storytelling techniques. Skill in working and connecting with a diverse group of colleagues and partners. Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects simultaneously, work independently under tight deadlines, prioritize responsibilities, and identify and resolve conflicts in a timely and appropriate manner.LANGUAGE SKILLSProficient in both spoken and written English. Ability to interpret and explain complex data. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to students, alumni, faculty, and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to perform basic to intermediate math essential.REASONING ABILITYAbility to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to solve routine problems and/or deal with a variety of variables in situations.
