Overview An Environmental Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring environmental compliance, sustainability, and safety within an organization. They are responsible for developing and implementing strategies to prevent, control, or remediate environmental hazards, as well as ensuring that projects comply with environmental regulations and standards. Key responsibilities Conducting environmental assessments and impact studies to identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans. Designing and implementing environmental management systems to minimize resource consumption and waste generation. Developing and implementing remediation and reclamation plans for contaminated sites. Conducting air, water, and soil quality monitoring and analysis. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution. Preparing environmental permit applications and ensuring compliance with permit conditions. Providing technical support and guidance on environmental issues to internal and external stakeholders. Evaluating and recommending innovative technologies for environmental improvement and sustainability. Conducting environmental audits and inspections to ensure adherence to environmental policies and regulations. Contributing to the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures. Managing and overseeing environmental remediation projects and coordinating with contractors and regulatory agencies. Preparing and presenting technical reports, proposals, and presentations on environmental findings and recommendations. Participating in the development and delivery of environmental training programs for employees. Staying updated on relevant environmental laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or relevant certifications (e.g., LEED, CHMM) is nice to have. Proven experience in environmental engineering, including environmental impact assessments and remediation projects. Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and industry standards. Proficiency in environmental monitoring and analytical tools and techniques. Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Advanced proficiency in data analysis and interpretation for environmental assessments. Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and presentations. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Experience in conducting environmental audits, inspections, and compliance assessments. Sound understanding of sustainability principles and practices for environmental management. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative solutions to environmental challenges. Ability to adapt to changing environmental regulations and technologies. Highly ethical and committed to upholding environmental stewardship and responsibility. Proficiency in relevant software and tools such as CAD, GIS, and environmental modeling software.
