Offer DescriptionThis doctoral formation is carried out within the Joint Research Program between The University of Chicago and The CNRS. The principal investigators of the project thus selected by the scientific committee of this program are Prof. Stéphane Quideau at the University of Bordeaux and Prof. Scott Snyder at the University of Chicago. Prof. Quideau's team is part of the Organic Chemistry divisional group of the Institut of Molecular Sciences. This Institute is a joint research unit between the CNRS, the University of Bordeaux and the Polytechnic Institute of Bordeaux-Aquitaine (ISM, UMR 5255 CNRS), which is affiliated to the CNRS regional délégation of Nouvelle Aquitaine (DR 15). The expertise of the Institute focusses on competences from researchers in physical chemistry, synthetic organic chemists and theoricians in quantum chemistry and molecular dynamics. The thesis will be carried out in Prof. Quideau's laboratory ( ), whose research domains are concerned with the bioinspired total synthesis of bioactive natural products, the chemistry and chemical biology of polyphenols, and the chemistry of hyppervalent iodine-based reagents. This position falls within a sector that relates to the protection of the scientific and technical potential (PPST), and thus requires, in accordance with the rules in force, that your arrival be authorized by the competent authority of the MESRI.Xerocomic acid, a highly-oxidized polyphenolic fungal metabolite, is presumed to lead to badione A, chalcitrin, and sclerocitrin. To date, only chalcitrin has been synthesized, as achieved by the Snyder group This doctoral thesis project concerns the chemical synthesis of sclerocitrin through a bioinspired route via a cascade of radical reactions initiated by photochemical activation of xerocomic acid analogues.RequirementsResearch Field Chemistry Education Level Master Degree or equivalentResearch Field Environmental science Education Level Master Degree or equivalentLanguages FRENCH Level BasicResearch Field Chemistry Years of Research Experience NoneResearch Field Environmental science Years of Research Experience NoneAdditional InformationWebsite for additional job detailsWork Location(s)Number of offers available 1 Company/Institute Institut des sciences moléculaires Country France City TALENCE GeofieldWhere to apply WebsiteContact CityTALENCE WebsiteSTATUS: EXPIRED
