• Red Seal Qualified Fitter
• Sound knowledge of local and state building codes
• Ability to use hand and power tools
• Ability to interpret blueprints for mechanical systems

• Study drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations and machine setting
• Fit fabricated metal parts into products, assemble metal parts and sub assemblies to produce machines and equipment
• Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
• Set guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, set up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses and set controls for machines
• Form metal stock and castings to fine tolerance using machining tool to press, cut, grind, plane bore and drill metal
• Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
• Diagnose faults and perform operational maintenance of machines
• Overhaul and repair mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
• Erect machines and equipment on site
