This individual will interface with vendors to manage inventories, forecasting, place orders, and ensure the timely delivery of products to our Therma-Tru sites. The successful candidate will own product category throughout the network and will work closely with demand planning, factory, warehouses, and transportation teams; will maintain relationships with key stakeholders and report metrics that drive continuous improvement, high fill rates, and a streamlined workflow in a dynamic fast-paced environment. The Materials Planner will develop long-range planning while considering inventory levels, obsolescence, lead times, product life cycles and production capacity.Position location - This role will be on site 5 days per week at our Butler, IN facility,RESPONSIBLIITIES:
  • Ensure we have the right materials at the right time to achieve the desired CSI metric
  • Maintain inventory levels to support both the CSI service metric and the Working Capital Efficiency (WCE) financial metric
  • Manage the inventory for a specific area of focus/commodity to meet Fill Rate metrics
  • Manage down the amount of SLOB (slow moving/obsolete) material that is on-hand
  • Issue Purchase Orders on a regular schedule to replenish inventory levels
  • Reconcile discrepancies of invoices and receipts of purchase orders
  • Proactively communicate to Customer Service or Operations on any potential service risk
  • Review and manage backorders through resolution
  • Analyze and set strategic min/max inventory levels for items in your area of focus
  • Interface and communicate with hourly associates, supervisors, and production managers
  • Support new product launch initiatives that align with future growth objectives
  • Provide forecast recommendations and analysis for area of focus
QualificationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of relevant supply chain experience
  • Strong customer service skills including oral and written communication skills
  • Time management skills/ability to focus on big rocks
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to support the needs of a multi-shift operation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance or related field
  • APICS or ISM certification
  • Ability to use data to solve problems/identify solutions
  • Experience using MS Excel and other reporting programs like Cognos or Crystal
  • Experience using an ERP system
