Our client, in the autonomous driving vehicle space, that is committed to delivering cutting-edge solutions to their customers, ensuring seamless data management and system optimization. As a Data Systems Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in their mission by working closely with clients to facilitate smooth data migration, decommissioning outdated storage systems, and implementing essential OS upgrades. This is a contract opportunity with hybrid schedule of 3 days a week onsite (minimum).Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with clients to migrate from legacy NFS/Samba storage to modern systems.
  • Spearhead the retirement process for outdated storage systems that have exceeded their useful life.
  • Execute OS upgrades on storage systems, transitioning to Ubuntu 22.04 for enhanced efficiency and security.
  • Partner with Data Center operations to promptly replace failed drives within storage systems.
  • Enhance monitoring dashboards and alerting systems for improved system oversight.
  • Develop and deploy scripts and tools to bolster automation and streamline storage system management.
  • Revise and enhance documentation and procedures related to storage system operations.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in Linux OS administration, particularly in storage and networking configurations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, essential for fostering positive long-term relationships with clients.
  • Hands-on experience in configuring and maintaining file systems, including NFS, Samba, and local file systems.
  • Familiarity with IPMI and ILOM.
  • Understanding of Linux permissions, encompassing standard POSIX and NFSv4 protocols.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently over extended periods.
Nice to have:
  • Prior experience with Ubuntu/Debian Linux.
  • Familiarity with VMware.
  • Exposure to Cluster or Software Defined Storage (SDS) solutions such as Quobyte, Ceph, Lustre, or Gluster.
  • Knowledge of file storage appliances like TrueNAS, NetApp, DataDomain, Synology, or QNAP.
  • Proficiency in ZFS administration.
  • Experience with automation software like Saltstack, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Competence in scripting or programming languages such as Python, BASH, Go, Rust, C, or C++.
  • Understanding of project management methodologies.
