- Provide modeling, pricing, and analytical support to internal teams (e.g., Development, Origination, Risk Management, Asset Management, Project Finance) and senior management
- Drive the valuation process for development projects, acquisitions, and M&A opportunities: update and refine proforma valuation model, validate macroeconomic and project-specific model inputs, run scenario analyses, and quantify risk.
- Build new models from the ground up as necessary for valuation tasks embodying the principles of transparency, simplicity, automation, and functionality using both Excel and VBA.
- Work closely with the Atlantic Shores Wind (ASOW) team (50% of the time) to support the development of their projects and provide ad-hoc valuation support, in particular during auctions and offshore wind solicitations.
- As part of the assignments related to ASOW workstream, the Senior Valuation Analyst will work with banks and external consultants to support modelling efforts toward financial close.
- Communicate results of economic and risk analyses to senior management
- Other duties as assigned by the Director, Valuation & Analytics; the VP, Transmission Strategy; or the SVP, Valuation & Analytics.
- 95% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (standard Microsoft software and other programs), phones, and general office equipment. 5% of time is spent outside of the office visiting vendors and/or internal customers, in addition to attending conferences and meetings.
- Bachelors in Finance, quantitative economics, mathematics, engineering, or other quantitative discipline. MBA, CFA preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in project valuation within the renewable energy or power sector.
- Manager level requirement: a minimum of 5 years of experience in project valuation within the renewable energy or power sector is required.
- Strong understanding of valuation concepts and DCF analyses
- Strong Excel financial modelling skills, able to build models from scratch using advanced Excel formulas and features and analyze/learn complex financial models quickly and independently. VBA programming skills a strong plus.
- Renewable energy Tax Equity structuring, project financing and analytical experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a fully integrated team (developers, project managers, legal, consultants, accounting, project finance, etc.)
- Ability to communicate detailed/complex financial information accurately and concisely.
- Understanding of US or Canada Energy based on location as well as: REC, capacity, and A/S markets and pricing
- Ability to proficiently collect, query, organize, and manipulate large amounts of data in Excel (or other platforms) and accurately present analytical results
- Other programming languages/software packages a bonus (Python, R, SPSS, etc.).
