Rockwern Academy, Cincinnati’s pluralistic Jewish Day School, is looking for a kindergarten teaching assistant to begin in August for the 2024 - 2025 school year. The hours are 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM Monday through Friday.Who are we?Rockwern Academy’s mission is to expand minds, celebrate Judaism, nurture community, and commit to building a better world. The school serves toddlers through eighth graders.Qualified applicants will have a college degree, preferably in education. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience. Knowledge of Judaism is not required, and candidates of all experience and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.ObjectiveTo support our kindergarten students and staff by working in partnership with a lead kindergarten teacher to provide instructional and social-emotional support to students to provide them with a superior educational experience.Reporting RelationshipThe position is responsible to the Principal.ResponsibilitiesInstructionAssist the classroom teacher in providing individual and small-group instructionAssist the classroom teacher with the preparation and execution of remediation and enrichmentAssist the teacher in establishing and maintaining standards of student behaviorHelp the classroom teacher organize materialsDisplay student workHelp the classroom teacher maintain individual student recordsHelp the teacher set up the classroom before school begins as well as organize the classroom at the end of the yearAssist the various teachers with monitoring the classroom (general studies, specials, and Hebrew)Monitor the cafeteria during lunch and recessTransition children from one class/activity to anotherMonitor students during arrival and dismissalCommunicationCommunicate appropriately with young studentsCollaborate with the lead teacher, providing feedback and recognizing that it is the lead teacher’s responsibility to run the classroom and direct your workEngage in positive communication with parents as directed by the lead teacherProfessionalismMaintain confidentialityAttend all required school events, activities, and celebrationsParticipate in professional developmentExhibit commitment to lifelong learning and growthDemonstrate commitment to teamwork and collegiality by helping others and accepting suggestions for improvement
