They will also be familiar with a range of existing industry-standard genomic bioinformatic techniques operated via command line and computational analysis of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) datasets to derive technical and biological insights.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing and managing production NGS analysis pipelines that run on a Linux cluster
  • Writing novel bioinformatics algorithms to analyze proprietary NGS data
  • Using probabilistic and statistical methods and developing algorithms to decode genomics data
  • Establishing disciplined coding and data management practices including source control, code review, automated testing and deployment, databases
  • Collaborating across departments to identify and address analytical needs
Qualifications
  • PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years relevant industry experience
  • Expert in NGS data processing and data analysis
  • Expert Python programmer for analytics and visualization
  • Experience with pipeline workflow systems (e.g., Snakemake, Nextflow, Cromwell)
  • Experience analyzing large scale data with statistical methods
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with and support multiple groups across the organization
  • Experience using and configuring cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Experience training machine learning models
  • Experience working in a rapidly growing technology startup
