- Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
- Documents patient care given.
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
- Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
- Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
- Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
- 25 bed acute care facility
- Med/Surg uses around 15 of the 25 beds
- Always have 2 nurses and a tech working a shift, manager pitches in
- High swing bed population
- Unit gets ortho surgery admits, we do EDD's get a lot of transfers from other facilities that don't need high level of care but do need continued rehab, and direct admits from ER.
- ADN or BSN
- completed NCLEX exam
- team oriented, positive attitude
- prior nursing experience
- knowledge of swing beds
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- National Institutes of Health (NIH)
- Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Active unencumbered RN Kentucky state license
- Graduate from a fully accredited RN program
- One year of work experience as a Med/Surg RN
- One year of Epic experience
- Board Certified
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills.
- Participates in relevant continuing education programs.
- Knowledge of and dedication to the highest patient care and provide the utmost service excellence to all patients.
- Ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem-solving expertise.
- A can-do, team oriented attitude is essential, as the ability to work independently and to interact easily with physicians, other managers and staff throughout the department and hospital.
- Effective interpersonal/communication, organizational, and the flexibility to handle multiple tasks.
