- In conjunction with the IR team, uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination being performed, including correct patient identification and order verification.
- Prepares for procedure by setting up exam tray using principles of sterile technique.
- Prepares, sets, and implements appropriate technical parameters such as generator, power injectors, and digital imaging equipment.
- Produces images according to established protocols within Imaging/Interventional Department.
- Evaluates images for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality.
- Demonstrates good radiation safety practices during radiographic examinations to include use of lead shields, collimation, and determining pregnancy status of women of childbearing years.
- Ensures that assigned areas are kept clean, neat and orderly.
- Ensures examinations are complete to include, images and appropriate paperwork are together, exam logged in computer system as well as supplies charged in computer system and/or pyxis system.
- Attends and participates in department staff meetings and in-services.
- Assists in training new personnel in hospital and department procedures.
- Takes an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities.
- Presents a positive image of the hospital and department upholding Core Behavioral Standards.
- Assist in quality improvement programs in the department.
- Maintains appropriate credentials and certifications related to clinical practice and ensures current copy is on file with department/hospital.
- Promotes a collaborative practice atmosphere with other members of the healthcare team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of approved program in Radiologic Technology.
- Registered with ARRT required.
- KY Radiation Operator’s certification required
- BLS required
- IR Registry required within 2 years of employment
- Prefer 2 years of recent experience as a general radiographer.
