Job Title: Accounts ManagerReports To: ControllerLocation: Plymouth, New HampshireFLSA Status: SalarySummary StatementThe Accounting Manager is responsible for the effective operation of the accounting team that supports Mount Prospect Academy, Inc. and Vermont Permanency Initiative, Inc. This includes accuracy, timeliness and compliance with GAAP and internal control systems. The Accounting Manager will supervise a small team and be expected to perform day-to-day accounting functions when necessary. They will need to work collaboratively with the Accountants and Controller for other company entities.Company BackgroundWelcome to Mount Prospect Academy (MPA), a rapidly growing alliance of nonprofit agencies founded in 2003, with the goal of helping struggling adolescents find a zest for life" and succeed in the business of life.MPA has evolved to offer a variety of mental health support services to a diverse population of hard to treat and difficult to place adolescence.   • Oversight of accounting operations so that accurate accounting data is available on a consistent and timely basis
  • Maintenance of a system of controls over all transactions
  • Oversight of the month and year-end close processes
  • Coordination and assignment of duties to accounting staff
  • Supervises and assists in the preparation of audit schedules
  • Work with programs to improve the organization's efficiency and accuracy in areas relative to the flow of program information to the accounting department
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, and general accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of SAGE Intacct or similar accounting software
  • High competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Personnel management skills
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to meet deadlines
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college. Accounting or Finance preferred.
  • Four to six years relevant experience in an accounting function, management experience is a plus.
Communication Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to write routine correspondence and reports
  • Timely response to email and phone messages
Supervisory Responsibilities:This role will supervise a department with individuals responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
