Responsibilities Job DescriptionThe University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank/Masonic Children's Hospital offers 24/7 Imaging services for pediatric and adult patients. The MRI technologists work collaboratively within the Imaging team and amongst varying levels of clinical practitioners.Job duties:
- Identifies relevant data from images accurately
- Uses appropriate communication skills to meet patient/family, and other customer needs.
- Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional
- Participates in creating a culture of patient safety
- Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness
- Verify patient identification and documentation
- Communicate with and educate patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of exam
- Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocol
- Ensures patient data integrity
- Adheres to MRI safety guidelines and diagnostic testing protocols/procedures
- Accurately documents in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, completes computer functions, edits, scheduling, and billing status changes
- Follows infection control guidelines
- Serves as a resource for other healthcare team members
- Responds appropriately to emergent situations
- Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving
- Assesses the validity of the test results to determine if consistent with changing physiological conditions or if due to possible interfering substances
- Acts as a resource for problem-solving resolution
- Current Registration with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- Meet MRI Safety Screen requirements
- Prior MRI Experience (1+ years)
- ARRT MRI certification or successful completion within 18 months of hire
- Experience with Epic/Radiant
- Understanding of current ACR Guidelines for MRI Safety
- Knowledge of MRI quality control and safety standards
