  • Assist a professor on a research or creative project. Duties will vary by project.
  • Meet with professor and other members of research group weekly as required.
  • Communicate progress and results of your research or creative work.
  • Attend monthly professional development meetings for all Emerging Scholars & one-on-one meetings with Center staff and/or peer mentors, complete monthly assignments.
  • Arrive to scheduled work shift on time.
  • Respond to email and/or phone calls or other communications within 2 business days (48 hours).

|Required Qualifications
  • ​​​​Prior acceptance into the Emerging Scholars program.
  • Must be available to work with your professor at least 4 hours per week (but not exceeding 7 hours per week on average) and attend monthly group and individual professional development meetings.
  • An undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Kansas enrolled in at least 12 credit hours for Fall 2024.
  • Awarded and accepted a Federal Work Study award of $2,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year.
  • During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
