Summary:The Reporter Intern will work closely with the editorial team to create content for digital platforms that engages audiences and supports the newsroom’s mission. They will develop, report, analyze and create original news and feature stories in text and other forms, including, when appropriate, video, audio, podcasts, Facebook Live events, simple graphics, etc.What you will do:Cover news events in the local marketWrite 3-5 stories per week as assigned40 hours per week; shifts will generally be Monday-Friday business hours, but special coverage may call for weekend or evening week, which will be communicated in advanceSource Development and relationship building to attain new events in the areContribute to pitching story ideasShoot and edit photos on an as needed basisWhat you will bring:Ability to write along with an understanding of AP StyleStrong grammar and analytical skillsDemonstrated interest in print and online journalismReliable transportation is necessaryTravel within the local market for story coverageAbility to interview sourcesActively working towards a college degreeCoursework in journalism or communication preferredWho we are:The Baltimore Sun is the largest general-circulation daily newspaper based in the state of Maryland and provides coverage of local and regional news, events, issues, people, and industries.
