Nine (9) Month Position
Salary Range: $19.77 – $25.04GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Work directly with students who need special assistance during their transportation to and from school. Duties include supervising and overseeing the safety, security, and well-being of the students, Responsible for assisting students in specialized areas of need such as; basic skills, personal care needs, and specialized health and/or behavior needs as identified by the district. This position also requires helping students with assistance on and off the bus and in and out of a wheelchair.QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently hold or have the ability to obtain an Educational Aide Permit REQUIRED
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to accurately follow directions.
- Training and/or experience with students with special needs.
- Training and/or experience which indicates a basic knowledge of the nature and needs of children with specialized health and/or behavior needs.
- Ability to work with school staff and parents.
- Ability to work in a fast paced sometimes hectic atmosphere.
- Willingness to implement specific discipline/behavioral management plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to lift, position, apprehend and restrain students.
- Willingness to support and encourage individual students.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Understanding of confidentiality of information about students and all school matters.
- Willingness to work cooperatively with others.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
- Assist students on and off the bus.
- Assist in loading and unloading of students in wheelchairs or special needs students.
- Assist with lifting students when necessary.
- Assist with discipline.
- Assure the seat belts and other safety restraining devices are used and securely fastened.
- Discusses problems which arise with Transportation Supervisor, School Principals, Bus Drivers and Parents.
- Assist students who become ill.
- Make and prepare routes as needed.
- Assists co-workers as required.
- Performs such other tasks as may from time to time be required.
- Occasional interaction among unruly students.
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues.
- Lifting and positioning students.
