The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of products in a food or beverage manufacturing environment. This position does not require a 4-year degree but demands prior experience in food or beverage manufacturing. The Quality Supervisor will report to the Quality Manager and manage a team of 10 direct reports. The primary focus of this role is to uphold quality standards, improve processes, and maintain compliance with industry regulations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Manage and provide leadership to a team of 10 quality control technicians, ensuring that they perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee and enforce quality control standards to ensure that products meet all established quality and safety criteria.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with the Quality Manager and other stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements that enhance product quality and reduce waste.
  • Product Inspections: Conduct routine inspections and audits of products, ingredients, and production processes to identify and address deviations from quality standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete records of quality control tests, inspections, and any non-conformities. Prepare and submit reports as required.
  • Training: Develop and implement training programs for quality control technicians to ensure they are well-equipped to perform their roles effectively.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards, ensuring that the manufacturing facility complies with all food safety and quality regulations.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and resolve quality-related issues by conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Communication: Foster open communication with production teams, providing feedback and guidance on quality matters, and promoting a culture of quality awareness.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management: Work closely with suppliers to ensure they meet quality standards, and facilitate necessary improvements in their processes.
  • Budget Management: Assist in managing the quality department budget, controlling costs related to quality control activities
  • Prior experience in food or beverage manufacturing is required.
  • A 4-year degree is considered a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control and assurance practices.
  • Leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Proficiency in using quality control tools and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts if required.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., HACCP, SQF) may be advantageous.
