If so, let's start the conversation.Supervisory Project ArchivistIron Mountain works closely with library and archives clients to deliver customized services for collections planning, processing, handling, and digitization. We are seeking a supervisor with experience in collections (archives, libraries, museums) management and special material handling to provide oversight for a project to process and prepare unique collection materials following archival standards and best practices. This is an exciting position in a fast paced setting that will require flexibility, supervisory oversight, project management, and communication. Our team seeks candidates that bring energy and enthusiasm for tackling world-class collections strategies and innovative archival practices.Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the Project Lead the person in this position will interact with the customer archives team and oversee onsite work with highly specialized collections. The person in this role is additionally responsible for maintaining guidelines and policies ensuring that archival processing and access meets customer standards.Position Highlights:
  • 7:30am-4:30 (Mon-Fri)

  • Comp $35-$40
  • 1 year contract. Temporary (No benefits)
  • Background check and Drug test must be completed and cleared prior to starting
Position Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate a team of up to four people in daily activities
  • Refine and implement policies, procedures and tracking systems for project activities
  • Daily responsibility for both supervision and to also complete processing work in alignment with the team that is being supervised
  • Provide onsite leadership and function as the point person communication with both the customer and Iron Mountain Library and Archival Services teams
  • Provide training and periodic oversight of handling and care protocols for staff.
  • Manage the project for appropriate completion by performing administrative tasks such as timekeeping, daily reporting of progress, implementing and managing staff to key metrics and resolving process exceptions on a timely basis.
  • Strong problem solving and project management skills, with an ability to be receptive to changing priorities and to manage multiple work processes and projects simultaneously.
  • The Supervisory Project Archivist shall be capable of recognizing and adjusting to non-standard situations as they arise and providing suggestions for process improvements.
Education, Experience and Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree required, along with at least two years of professional experience in collections care and management (museum, archive, or special collections library)
  • Proven supervisory experience with executing/leading frontline teams
  • Demonstrated logistics or operational process experience is a significant plus
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree with 1-2 years of experience
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to follow explicit directions and also work autonomously
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with flexibility and with an eye to detail. Must be able to prioritize, work under pressure, and meet short deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with MS Excel
