Data architects possess a deep working knowledge of how data is or will be used and implications on people, processes, capabilities, and technologies including analytics and data integrations. This role requires skills such as data modelling, data warehousing, data integration, data governance and an understanding of data security, data standards, and cloud architecture principles. Data architects work closely with data producers, information management, data engineers, and data consumers.How You’ll Succeed
- Engage and partner with cross-functional tech teams, third party solution delivery providers, and Data team peers to understand the business problem and enhance/develop the appropriate data solution leveraging modern technology platforms.
- Data/Information Vision and Strategy including the ability to work with business to identify future uses for Lilly Finance data and anticipated business results and enable processes to support these needs.
- Data Planning/Modelling and Data Lifecycle Design including the ability to develop a technical strategy for future data structure and data integration.
- Develop and provide expertise in enterprise data domains; this includes data relationships, data quality, understanding of business data needs and the associated technology toolsets and methodologies.
- Develop understanding how the enterprise data strategies, platforms, and technologies enable business execution. Use this knowledge to appropriately challenge status quo and drive business and IT collaborations.
- Understand and seek to leverage data across a spectrum of resources (including sources such as S/4 HANA and the Enterprise Data Backbone (EDB)) in the context of the broader data strategy.
- Use cutting edge information technologies to organize and analyze data leveraging data engineers.
- Ensure data integrity, security and privacy requirements are adhered to.
- Facilitate efficient and scalable data exchange between Lilly and its external partners using industry standards and data integration methodologies, extending publicly available data sets for internal Lilly use.
- Continuously scan the technology environment for new trends and techniques; interface with external consultants and thought leaders as needed.
- Foundational set of knowledge in:
- communication, leadership, teamwork, project delivery, analytical and problem-solving skills across diverse teams.
- architectural processes (e.g. blueprinting, reference architecture, governance, etc.).
- understanding of external data standards, Health care industry knowledge and business acumen.
- Good knowledge of at least one of the SAP data warehousing solutions like SAP BW/4HANA or SAP S/4 HANA for both modelling and scripting including ability to write complex stored procedures. High level knowledge of various replication methods to HANA or BW/BI.
- Experience as an autonomous IT leader leading large scale portfolios and sophisticated high demanding customers.
- Demonstrated ability to influence IT and business strategies to drive large-scale outcomes.
- Validated skills of strong learning agility and relationship building to influence change using knowledge and relationships.
- Successful record of high quality, user focused, on-time & budget IT service and project delivery.
- Experience with formal project management methodologies, agile frameworks (including Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and working knowledge of associated practices and tools.
- Experience in AWS, Azure, APIs, SQL/PLSQL, data model proficiency, security models and development on large data sets.
- Experience with multiple database technologies.
- Ability to review and provide practical recommendations on design patterns, performance considerations & optimization, database versions, and database deployment strategies.
- Knowledgeable in data functions such as Data Governance, Master Data Management, Business Intelligence.
- Experience in moving on premises solutions into cloud and knowledge in multiple data ingestion patterns.
- Experience in several of the following disciplines: statistical methods, data modeling, ontology development, semantic graph construction and linked data, relational schema design.
- A high level of intellectual curiosity, external perspective, and innovation interest.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related scientific discipline.
- 1At least 8 years of experience designing large scale data models for functional, operational, and analytical environments (Conceptual, Logical, Physical & Dimensional)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex data domains and craft practical solutions for subsequent data exploitation via analytics.
- Understanding of SQL, ETL process and demonstrated strong technical learning agility.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of latest trends in Analytics space including platforms and solutions from other vendors.
- CDMP Certification
- Understanding of a highly regulated environment that involves data privacy and confidential information requirements.
- Up to 10% US & OUS travel could be required.
- Hybrid, full time day shift position located in Indianapolis, IN. Occasional off hours and weekend work is expected as this position serves a global organization.
