We preserve and expand members’ work opportunities, vigorously enforce our contracts and protect our members against unauthorized use of their work. ​ResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll DoUnder the direction of the Chief Communications & Marketing Officer, the ExternalEngagement Coordinator supports all in person appearances for the unions leadership and key subject matter experts. This role works in conjunction with communications and marketing and other departments staff to establish goals, objectives, plans and tactical implementations for all appearances. The External Engagement Coordinator also provides branding, marketing, planning and analysis of all external appearances and ensures that photographs, video footage, social media posts and other promotion of appearances are timely and accurate.(This section provides a general summary of the most significant job duties performed.   • Supports the reputation, thought leadership and external engagement goals of the organization
  • Assists in developing and supporting logistics, speeches, Q&A, scheduling, prep, promotion and implementation and management of external engagement events including panels, speeches, awards presentations, and other appearances for elected and staff leadership and subject matter experts.
  • Coordinate all appearances with a multi-department team.
  • Writes, edits and maintains a master list of appearances and engagements and attendant media support.
  • Builds and maintains a positive thought leadership and subject matter resource
environment for the organization and supports relationships with meaningful outlets.
  • Assists with developing proactive speaking and appearances programs and written and verbal pitches.
  • Assists in creating briefing materials, and coordinating and supporting briefings.
  • Supports other efforts in the Communications & Marketing department as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or a related field or relevant, commensurate direct experience
  • Introductory marketing communications experience in an agency, nonprofit or corporate setting
  • Excellent written communications.
  • Business, labor, and/or entertainment industry media relations and media planning experience a strong plus.

  • Ability to manage multiple and conflicting deadlines and coordinate organized project plans.
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of AP Style.
  • Familiarity with Cision, Google Suite and project management programs.
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such levels as is determined at SAG-AFTRA’s sole discretion.
  • Must be available and willing to work extended hours per day or per week, including weekends and holidays, as SAG-AFTRA determines is necessary to meet its business needs.
