- Authors and approves structural repairs for aircraft and or components
- Familiar with corrosion mitigation on aircraft structures
- Familiar with fatigue, strength of materials and aircraft structures
- Researches and provides recommendations to aircraft structures items by working with OEM, vendors, MROs, HA maintenance and maintenance control.
- Proactively implements corrosion prevention improvements to HA aircraft, revising or creating new Maintenance Program requirements to include checks, inspections or regular application of corrosion inhibitors to minimize degradation of structure
- Proposed and submits structural repair to OEMs/DERs and obtains approvals as needed
- Ability to design and approve repair schemes in-house, when possible, utilizing static analysis and previously approved data.
- avionics systems for day to day operations
- Works with customers to develop and document and avionics and electrical system requirements on complex multi- tiered projects.
- Coordinates work to analyze and translate avionics requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface
- Provide technical assistance to line, base, and check maintenance team, 24/7.
- The position requires application of engineering principles to research technical, operational, and quality issues, as well as determining interim and final engineering solutions, and responding to OEM/Vendor and internal questions and reported problems through internal and external communication
- Prepares, creates, reviews and approves engineering documentation in accordance with HA Engineering Standard Operating Procedures and processes. Includes repairs, modifications, alterations and STC’s.
- Utilizes technical expertise and practical experience to disposition complex technical issues
- Reviews documents including CMM’s, Service Letters, Service Bulletins, FARs, CFR’s, Airworthiness Directives, and other manufacturer issued publications
- Provide on-site support to Maintenance
- Maintains and updates maintenance manuals, OEM and internal revisions, approve and authorize part master records in TRAX by researching substantiation documentation
- Research reliability trends and assist with actioning improvements on components and airframes
- Interface with equipment vendors, industry partners, MRO providers and regulatory authorities
- Collaboration with Planning, MRO’s, Quality Assurance, Supply, Materials and Maintenance for process improvements as needed.
- Participates in resolution of design and improvements to maintenance programs & procedures as needed.
- Timely accomplishment of assignments coming into the group, including resolution of CARs, CERIs, review/disposition of Alert Level investigations, IRG, MRRB, CAS activities, etc.
- Professional development such as training, conferences and other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent scientific discipline from an accredited university, or alternatively 3 years of relevant experience in addition to technical education such as an A&P license.
- Strong computer skills with Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat etc.
- Able to obtain an AOA/SIDA badge
- Valid driver’s license and passport
- Strong analytical and operational business skills
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects to balance work within the group, ensuring important technical updates are provided to maintenance documentation in an expeditious manner.
- Must be able to promptly respond after hours (24/7). Must be able to travel occasionally, work flexible hours and work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays and non-traditional hours.
- Good organizational and prioritization skills and a demonstrated ability of acting as an effective change agent
- Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to summarize complex technical matters. Must be able to confidently and professionally represent Hawaiian to members of federal authorities and industry
- Engineers are essential workers, required to work on-site to support Tech Ops and available for field assignments as required
- Engineering Degree / Advanced Degree / A&P License
- 3 years experience as an Engineer in an aviation capacity.
- Familiarity with TRAX maintenance software, particularly engineering module, authoring controls and task cards
- Commercial aviation experience with FAR 121, in the field of Aircraft Maintenance, Engineering, Quality Assurance, or Regulatory Compliance
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (Parts 25, 121, etc). Familiarity with Airworthiness Directives and Manufacturer Service Bulletins
- Experience and familiarity with certification, STCs, modification and repair of complex aircraft systems, components and installation on Part 121 aircraft.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of aircraft/engine maintenance and specification documents, particularly AMM, WDM, SRM, IPC, TSM, etc.
- 717, 787, A321 and/or A330 experience
- Familiarity or experience with aircraft structures, metal and composite repairs, damage tolerance analysis, knowledge of corrosion impact to metals
