The Data Engineering Professional supports the capture, management, storage and utilisation of structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources, turning business needs into the data that supports the BT Groups data strategies and strategic decision making What you ll be doing Development on cloud using Google Cloud Platform (GCS, BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud function, Pub/Sub etc), SQL and Python Strong Data warehousing development background. Data Strategy: Understands and can intelligently articulate key concepts around data at a strategic and tactical level, and across technical, commercial and experience design disciplines Cloud platforms : Understanding of and experience in building data analytics platforms on cloud technologies, with focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Google Cloud Platform: Experience in developing data solutions using services made available on GCP (GCS, BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub etc) utilising Infrastructure as Code (primarily Terraform). Data Analytics technology: Understanding of the technologies supporting Analytics, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Data Science, Decisioning, Digital Marketing, AI, Machine Learning and Internet of Things. Would expect Analytics and/or Data based certifications (eg CAP, CBIP, CDMP) Desirable to have data technical qualifications. eg Ab Initio, Adobe (AAP/AAM), Cloudera, Oracle (OCA/OCP), Pega CDH, SAS/SPSS or R. Work in DevOps environment for Continuous Delivery Expected to coach / mentor new members on areas of expertise and able to lead a module. Works under general direction within a clear framework of accountability, substantial personal responsibility and autonomy. Plans own work, to meet given objectives and processes. Able to maintain a reputation timely delivery,with high quality and sustainability to the business. Assists with the transformation strategy for a network, platform or technology discipline in own area of expertise Skills you are expected to have Experience in Data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Python scripting Extensive experience in DW applications - in ETL, Database PL/SQL development. Experience in Component Design of DWH implementation. Experience in Devops tools like Puppet, Ansible with experience in GIT GIT CI/CD. Experience in Oracle Query performance, Scalability and Reliability. Innovate and create solutions to very complex problems and new business initiatives Effective verbal and written communication skills Agile experience required. Possess B.E. or M.E. degree in Computer Science or IT or related field Desirable GCP Certification with solid understanding of GCS, Cloud Function, Cloud Composer, Data Flow, Data Catalog, BigQuery , Cloud Scheduler. Knowledge in Terraform Scripting. Experience in Big Data Technologies : Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Oozie, Hue, Sqoop. Core Java skills. Telecom domain experience, Preferably in OR.
