- set up and perform monthly spectrometer standardization, adjustments and certification using oil standards procured from the Joint Oil Analysis Program Technical Support Center (JOAP-TSC) on analytical equipment.
- conduct spectrometric and physical property tests of component oils as a prognostic/diagnostic tool in support of the Army aviation and ground equipment.
- operate the standard suite of analytical instruments in support of lubricant testing in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
- manage and maintain equipment consumables, spare parts, and supplies to ensure that they are on-hand at inventory levels that allow the lab to minimize shelf-life waste.
- identify issues impacting quality or with the potential to impact quality, and report to supervision.
- assist with the implementation of any remedial actions to address quality issues.
- enter data in the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- on occasion, perform special tests of other materials, at the direction of supervisors or engineers.
- have at least two years post-secondary education OR on-the-job training in oil analysis, analytical chemistry, reliability engineering, or condition monitoring (mechanical machinery). Possession of an associate degree is preferred. Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet the education requirement.
- possess a LLA I certification within twelve months of hire and must maintain that certification (MRG Labs is the leading provider of training services for LLA certification, and will provide training, materials, and assistance for the employee to achieve this requirement)
- be fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- be able to attain SECRET clearance.
- be a US citizen.
- Former Air Force Nondestructive Inspection Specialist (2A7X2)
- Former Navy AD (Aviation Machinist's Mates), EN (Enginemen), GSM (Gas Turbine Systems Technician), MM (Machinist's Mate), MMA (Machinist's Mate Auxiliary) ratings with a Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 768A code.
- Former Army 68 and 15 series MOS will also be considered.
- Have knowledge of the following: characteristics of metals identification; wear metals identification and content; metal discontinuity and flaw detection; operation and maintenance of nondestructive test and oil analysis equipment; safety directives and practices; technical orders and directives; and proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials IAW applicable federal, state, and local directives.
- Knowledge of Ferrography, Titration for total acid and total base, Laser Net Fines (particle counter and shape identifier), fuel dilution test, Karl Fisher (water), Pall water sensor.
- Knowledge of physical property tests to evaluate oil/lubricants for properties such as viscosity, particulate presents, water, or other chemical presents.
- Experience in performing preventive maintenance and repairs on the on military equipment.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret results to draw conclusions and to ensure that all data needed has been obtained and is valid.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Possess an active DoD SECRET security clearance.
- The Laboratory Technician shall regularly report to the assigned Army base AOAP laboratory for work.
- Travel may be required occasionally to support workloads at other AOAP laboratories, which will be provided by the employer.
