Job Description:Diagnoses and treats diseases and conditions associated with the lungs: Examines patient, utilizing medical instruments and equipment. Elicits and records information about patient's history. Analyses reports and test results and prescribes treatment or medication for conditions. Refers patients to ancillary and consultant services when indicated. This includes admission and work-up of all medical patients to medical wards, and ICU as required.Responsibilities:3.1 Performs the professional duties of a Pulmonologist in adherence to the Delineation of Privileges depending on
the efficiency and skills of the particular individual.
3.2 Answers in-patient consultations from medical or other in-patient services.
3.3 Orders diagnostic laboratory and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable
therapy and taking the necessary preventive medicine.
3.4 Reviews journals and textbooks in order to keep current on latest techniques, procedures and therapy.
3.5 Participates in continuing in-service training programs, physician's conferences, etc.
3.6 Responsible for the proper practice of infection control guidelines in all clinical areas.
3.7 Keeps current with emergency techniques as they emerge and evolve.
3.8 Active participation and sustained qualification in all cardio-pulmonary resuscitation programs.
3.9 Attends staff meetings and weekly rounds and participates in in-service activities as required, i.e., Morbidity &
Mortality conferences, Peer Reviews, etc.
3.10 Performs additional duties as designated by the Head of the Department.3.11Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital
management to comply those requirements
3.12 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.13 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.14 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports
3.15 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.16 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.17 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systemsQualifications:4.1Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.
4.2 Post-graduate degree in Pulmonology from a recognized medical college.
4.3 At least five (5) years of practice as a Pulmonologist after certification.
4.4 Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
4.5 Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide
professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and
procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality
which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical
Organization.
4.6 Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
4.7 Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families
