- The Business Analyst will work within agile Software Development teams to gather requirements, design, implement, and validate software based on business-driven requirements.
- The candidate should be a passionate and talented individual who can work in a dynamic environment with strong technical & problem-solving abilities, communication skills, scientific understanding.
- He / She will work closely with the software engineer, test engineer and solutions architect to implement production quality software solutions, implement rich multi-tier web solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions.
- Experience or expertise in field-based breeding of hybrid & varietal crops.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and business partners.
- Able to handle conflicts and approach negotiations in a diplomatic but confident manner.
- Possess excellent requirements gathering and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Capable of working with complex quantities of data and analyses
- A confident speaker; able to articulate messages well in small to medium size groups.
- A keen sense of translating the work back to the business value derived.
- Experience in strategy development and strategic leadership in R&D or business environments.
- B.S. or M.S. in Plant Genetics/Plant Breeding, Biology, Genetics, Agronomy, Chemistry, Information Management, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent amount of relevant education and experience
- Understanding of software development best practices, systems development lifecycle, and enterprise architecture principles
- Previous experience prioritizing and breaking down complex requests into small chunks.
- The ability to be comfortable with the unknown, ask questions, be inquisitive, be a self-starter.
- Ability to dive in, position yourself for success by building relationships, learning quickly, and trying new things.
- Understanding or experience in a laboratory environment and its workflows
- Work collaboratively and independently on agile software teams to create new and innovative software systems.
- Communicate complex technical information to a variety of audiences in a clear and concise manner.
- Define system requirements, use cases, and timelines.
- Drive user centered design process. Create wireframes, interview users, create process flow maps, and develop personas.
- Document user stories and acceptance criteria in industry leading tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, and Azure Dev Ops, GitLab
- Create burn-up charts, report on project milestones and adhere to defined project scope.
- Understand databases to extract and summarize data.
- Exposure to wireframing tools (ex. Lucidcharts, balsamiq)
- Experience in creating scientific software systems will be an added advantage.
