Labor Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all union-related matters at both the Local and International levels, including negotiations, grievance resolution, and arbitration proceedings.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with union representatives, fostering open communication and collaboration.
- Lead contract negotiations and collective bargaining activities ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Investigate and resolve employee grievances in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and applicable regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in labor laws and regulations, advising management on potential impacts and recommending appropriate actions.
- Advise, coach and guide Managers, Supervisors and HR team members on union-related matters and labor relations.
- Implement effective site programs, procedures, and policies to ensure operational excellence aligned with company strategy, workforce needs, and the collective bargaining agreement.
- Provide leadership and guidance to HR team members, ensuring alignment with company goals and HR best practices.
- Oversee the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and initiatives to support organizational objectives and promote a positive work environment in accordance with Xylem HR Centers of Expertise and Shared Services.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support the professional development of direct reports.
- Collaborate with HRBPs to address employee relations issues, performance management, talent acquisition, and other HR functions as needed.
- Partner with HRBPs and management teams to proactively address employee relations issues, fostering a culture of fairness, respect, and inclusion.
- Investigate employee complaints and concerns, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to managers on disciplinary actions, terminations, and other sensitive employment matters.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as collective bargaining agreements.
- Conduct audits, assessments, and investigations to identify areas of risk and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with legal counsel as necessary to address legal matters and mitigate potential liabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in HR leadership roles with a focus on union labor relations.
- Demonstrated expertise in negotiating collective bargaining agreements and resolving labor disputes up to and including arbitration.
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to coach, lead and develop high-performing teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility
- Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements
- Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours
- Location: Can be remote anywhere on the East Coast or Central part of the US, Illinois highly preferred
