We place them at the heart of what we do, providing challenging opportunities to develop within a great team in a supportive environment that allows them to reach their full potential.Scope of the Role:We are currently recruiting for a passionate and driven Transport and Logistics specialist to join our team. This is an exciting and dynamic role, where you will be responsible for supporting the transport and logistics and supply chain function, based in Ireland, and working across the Mercury Engineering project locations.:
  • Work with the Group Transport & Logistics Manager in developing a centralised transport and logistics strategy.
  • Central point of contact for all project teams for transport and shipping related queries and activities across the group.
  • Co-ordinate delivery and book in of material to various warehouse site locations.
  • Work closely with procurement and commercial teams monitoring and coordinating interactions with suppliers and freight forwarders.
  • Develop and maintain standardised transportation booking and recording system on freight requirements, including road freight, sea freight, air freight and project cargo.
  • Involvement and understanding in customs clearance procedures, compliance, and tracking records.
  • Creating requisitions and completing service entries / goods receipting in SAP and ERP Systems, and monitor transport costs to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
  • Suggest new ways of applying existing knowledge to continuously improve business outcomes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by line manager.
Competencies:
  • Business diploma / Industry qualification or relevant Transport & Logistics industry experience (c. 3 + years)
  • Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills and knowledge of freight forwarding and import procedures.
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Pride in the quality and presentation of work.
  • Experience using SAP.
  • Ability to use Excel for analysis of costs, KPI's and deliveries.
  • Experience in a similar role within an engineering or construction company.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to organize and prioritise tasks.
  • Work well as part of a team towards a common goal.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Project planning and implementation.
  • Understanding of customs compliance procedures, tariff classification and regulations.
