Job Description:Te Tūranga /About the Role:Silver Fern Farms Dargaville, based in our most northern site in NZ, have an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled tradesperson to join our team as a Maintenance Engineer. The Maintenance Engineer will have a focus on day-to-day operation of the mechanical equipment on site, performing basic plant repair and maintenance and have some cross over/ upskilling across the services on site as required - across our diverse and multi-faceted facilities. This means no day will be the same and you will continue to have the opportunity to grow in your trade and skill set.Our Engineering team work on a 4/4 rotating shift roster covering production hours and downtime which allows them to take a proactive approach to reactive and preventative maintenance. The roster schedule is two 12 hour day shifts, two 12 hours night shifts and then four days off.Ōu Pūkenga /About You:Successful candidates will ideally have previous experience in Food Process Engineering and cannot just 'do the job', but to use their analytical and problem-solving skills to provide top level service to the processing plant.Working as part of a maintenance team, candidates will have good interpersonal skills and an attitude for getting stuck in to get the job done with a great sense of comradery amongst our small, but well versed team onsite - you will add to the close knit culture and will in return be supported in your career and the many opportunities that a group like Silver Fern Farms can offer.We are looking for the following skills and attributes:
  • Relevant trades qualification and/ or desire to upskill and grow.
  • Excellent knowledge of sound engineering principals and repairs and maintenance procedures on an industrial processing site - FMCG experience would be advantageous
  • Ability to analyse problems and implement effective solutions on a timely basis
  • Be self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a tight knit engineering team.
  • Organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise workload in a challenging engineering environment
