Job DescriptionThe primary focus of the position focus on developing design solutions for various projects onboard the CCL fleet. The Interior Designer, Level 3 will lead and manage individual design projects and offer guide to junior designers with design projects under the supervision and lead of Design Manager and AVP of design. Person must be comfortable taking direction from others in the team and from operational leaders.Essential Functions:
  • Work together and created design projects with and under guidance from Design or Architect manager and AVP of design with various design functions to ensure both refurbishment and new building projects advance according to design objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop presentation boards, renderings, drawings, floor plans, elevations, details sections, ceiling plans, 3D models, and area specifications, as requested by team leaders.
  • Conduct product research and propose standards for finishes and materials to improve life-cycle cost effectiveness. Make recommendations to improve the maintainability of the interior design elements on the ships. Pull material options and propose FF&E solutions to design team; strong product and vendor knowledge is required.
  • Create project specifications using CCL defined formatting guidelines, including: defined scope of work, material identification information, and related drawings.
  • Develop and update specifications for newly requested interior modifications, with consideration for maintainability, physical/functional attributes, and aesthetics.
  • Work with Project Managers, as needed, by developing supplemental material to distribute to contractors bidding on CCL projects. Lead and develop presentations and stimulating visuals for Design Manager or AVP of Design to present to the Executive Team.
  • Respond to repair and maintenance requests in a timely manner. Create specifications for furniture, fabrics, wall treatments, lighting, and interior finishes for all onboard public spaces.
  • Work with CAD drafters to ensure all modifications to the ships' interior spaces are documented in the technical drawing database archives.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments with vendors to guarantee samples in the design library are current.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design
  • 4-8 years of commercial or marine design experience required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Creativity, leadership and project management skill in keeping timelines, delegating work to junior designers, strong work ethic, and positive attitude required.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Rendering and modelling software.
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities. May need to stand for long periods of time.Travel: Travel will be required for ship visits, surveys, dry docks, and new building projects. Total travel time estimated at 10-25%. 25%-50% both domestic and international travel likely.Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery. May be requested to work a different shift.The range for this role's base salary is $60,600 - $90,000. Offers to selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.At Carnival, your total rewards package is much more than your base salary.
