Are you ready for duty?The roleAs the Design Engineer Electrical and Automation within the Proposals team, you play a key part in the delivery of the tender package at Damen Naval. You will be responsible for developing Electrical and Automation design solutions and translating them into detailed requirements during precontract activities. Your role will involve performing design tasks, writing reports and specifications, and ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of quality and functionality. Since we have offices in Vlissingen and Schiedam, you are expected to frequently visit these offices.Key accountabilitiesAs the Design Engineer Electrical and Automation, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Perform design and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Contribute to requirements analysis, concept generation, and general system architecture.
  • Evaluate designs against requirements and prepare corresponding reports.
  • Write technical documents, equipment specifications, contract specifications, and reports, effectively communicating design solutions and requirements.
  • Facilitate communication with stakeholders to gather input and ensure alignment on technical solutions.
  • Participate in discussions with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders on technical aspects of proposed solutions.
  • Support cost evaluations provided by suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to optimize project outcomes.
Skills & experienceTo excel as the Design Engineer Electrical and Automation, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in Electrical and Automation (E&A), preferably acquired in the shipbuilding, offshore or maritime sector.
  • Good command of English language both written and verbal.
  • Willing to travel between Schiedam and Vlissingen and v.v. regularly and abroad occasionally.
  • Excellent references antecedents as a pre-employment security screening is standard part of the recruitment procedure.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required and candidates with NL/EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
