In collaboration with the Summer School Principal, assist with supervising a summer school program for elementary students. Work collaboratively with the Executive Directors, Equity and Innovation/Teaching and Learning Directors and Coordinators to prepare for and oversee the operation of the summer program. Lead and coordinate program planning and oversee operation of the program. Oversight responsibilities include staff hiring and supervision, staff assignment, registration and scheduling, communication, supervision, student management, material acquisition, organization and site management, and program evaluation.Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Ensure a successful summer school experience for all students, staff and families
  • Collaborate with central office departments to prepare, plan and implement summer programming
  • Assist the principal with interviewing and hiring summer school teachers and staff
  • Work with the administrative team and professional development providers to organize the agenda, prepare training materials, and deliver professional development.
  • Collaborate with schools and operational departments to ensure registration and records are accurate and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that teachers responsible for administering pre and post assessments have been properly trained and prepared.
  • Oversee the process of completing the student pre and post assessments for the school.
  • Prepare student rosters and assign classrooms.
  • Prepare and communicate student academic and behavioral expectations to all stakeholders utilizing a PBIS framework.
  • Conduct classroom observations on a regular basis to ensure fidelity of curriculum implementation and provide coaching and feedback to teaching staff.
  • Monitor student performance and ensure all students have access to regular and ongoing feedback to gauge progress toward learning standards.
  • Actively participate in all professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain teacher and student attendance.
  • Contact and support families of students who are consistently absent.
  • Oversee the collection and return of all designated summer materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Master’s Degree in Education.
  • Professional Educator License with General Administrator or Principal endorsement.
  • Successfully completed all PERA module designations required to evaluate certified staff (Teacher & Principal) (preferred), if not must successfully complete before the start of summer school.
Experience / Knowledge
  • Five (5) years of teaching experience, or two years of administrative experience and/or large-scale instructional change projects.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to present information before large and small groups.
  • Thorough knowledge of school code, state and federal laws and District policies.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and statistics to analyze and create related meaningful reports as required by school need or assigned by the Assistant Superintendent.
  • Ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.
  • Demonstrated interest, knowledge and/or experience in serving culturally and linguistically diverse students.
Physical Demands
  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects or materials up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
Terms of Employment
  • This is a temporary position. Availability after school, weekends and summer weekdays in January, February, March, April, May, June and early July for staffing, professional development and other administrative responsibilities is required and included in the overall salary. Preference will be given to current administrators at the host site.
Salary Information
  • $7,000.00 (including TRS)
