CFA’s core purpose is to improve the quality of life of this and future generations by helping people protect and be good stewards of our environment and natural resources.Summary:This position will require the individual to support complex analytical procedures and data reduction as required for the analysis of Polychlorinated Dibenzodioxins (PCDDs) and Polychlorinated Dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and Chlorinated Biphenyl Congeners with High-Resolution Gas Chromatography/High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry instrumentation (HRGC/HRMS). Analytical methods utilized for these procedures are EPA 8290, 1613, and 1668. This position requires the individual to work with minimal supervision and demonstrated performance with the specific methods and instrumentation noted above.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
Demonstrates and supports CFA’s core values
Performs procedures that involve basic operation and calibration of mass spectrometry instrumentation
Performs basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance of instrumentation
Demonstrates consistent and reliable performance in work procedures and methodology
Ability and willingness to take special assignments
Ability to perform peer review of analytical data
Possess verbal and written communication skills
Meets production goals
Typical Education and Experience Required:Bachelor of Science, preferably in Chemistry, Biology, or related science degreeOther Knowledge Requirements:
Exhibits organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Organizational skills
Understanding of fundamental principles, practices, and techniques of chemistry
Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to, WORD, EXCEL and other standard operating programs/systems
