- Performs Registered Nurse duties within the RN scope of practice.
- Performs initial clinical assessment on patient's first wound care visit and adjusts plan of care according to changes in patients condition under the direction of the physician.
- Collaborates with patient/significant others/other team members in developing a holistic plan of care.
- Prepares hyperbaric chambers in accordance with safety and operational policies and procedures. Completes Pre/Post hyperbaric checklists.
- Assesses patient to ensure that safety procedures for patients undergoing wound care and hyperbaric therapy are followed.
- Continuously monitors patients undergoing treatment in hyperbaric chambers.
- Follows policies and procedures for cleaning and decontamination of hyperbaric chambers.
- Orients patient and significant others to the physical layout of the department.
- Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care for patients based on evidence established by nursing practice standards.
- Formulates plan of care that is individualized according to patient's needs on admission.
- Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
- Interprets data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
- Ensures all diagnostic tests received between visits are documented and called to physician as necessary.
- Addresses patient and family concerns and directs concerns to director, and/or patient advocate as needed.
- Documents orders and notes orders timely and accurately.
- Ensures patient charges are documented.
- Provides an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
- Continually monitors and assesses patient for changes in patient condition and calls physician when needed.
- Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, and includes family in teaching as appropriate.
