The ideal Medication Aide will be extremely detail-oriented and possess in-depth knowledge of patient procedures. Providing patient care is a vital part of this job which is why excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed.Full-Time RMA Sign On Bonus - Upon hire you are eligible for $1,000 paid out in equal installments beginning our your first paycheck continuing every paycheck until you have reached 6 months of employment.Shifts available:
  • Full Time 3rd shift - 10:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. including every other weekend
Roles & Responsibilities:Dispense resident medications as indicated by individual care plan schedules; document medications on the MAR including PRN’s and their effectivenessRecord all medications dispensed on flow sheets, notes, and charts in an informative and descriptive mannerAssist resident daily with getting in/out of bed, grooming, meals, dressing, and other assigned ADL’sComplete monthly resident summaries; notes changes in development or care needsEvaluate and record vital signs, BP, TPR’s and WT’sSubmit medications for reorder each shift, as neededFollow all infection control policies, procedures and processes before, during and after performing any service for a residentEnsure changes in resident condition, including injuries of an unknown source and skin tears are reported to the DON as a mandated reporterAssist with basic clean-up of resident room; empty trash, gather soiled linens and clothing for laundryEncourage resident to participate in activities and assist with activities as neededParticipate in fire drills and emergency preparedness activities per facility policy
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain resident confidentiality
Essential Functions
  • Ability to relate to and work with varying age groups and health conditions within the nursing facility
  • Comply with all local, state, federal, and facility policies and procedures
  • Record and report any changes to resident behavior, health or attitude as well as any complaints or grievances made by the resident
Qualifications:This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 poundsMust be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language * Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general publicMust have knowledge of and an interest in geriatrics; and must have a good understanding of medical terminologyBe able to follow written and oral instructionsEducation & Experience:High School Diploma or GED requiredAdult First Aid/CPR and AEDRegistered Medication Aide, in accordance with the laws of the state * Certified Nurse Aide in state of Virginia or NA Certificate
  • Experience in a long-term care/nursing facility preferred
