DefinitionUnder direction, is responsible for operating telemonitoring equipment used to inspect wastewater collection lines and related structures; performs related duties as required.Examples of Work(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)Operates telemonitoring equipment, including computers and associated equipment, used to inspect storm, sanitary, and combination wastewater collection lines and related structures;Evaluates wastewater collection line conditions utilizing standards in the industry (i.e., Pipeline Assessment and Certification Program (PACP)) and recommends corrective action;Locates wastewater collection lines by reading sewer maps, atlases, and blueprints;Operates a computer to record and download images of sewers and to input information as to the findings of the inspections; utilizes PACP codes to classify the findings;Drives City vehicles to and from assigned work sites to transport equipment, materials, and personnel;Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on telemonitoring equipment as required;Acts as a lead worker at assigned work site(s) to oversee and assist with equipment set-up and confined space operations;Prepares investigative reports and maintains logs as required;May climb in and out of manholes and other confined spaces to setup, clean, and retrieve telemonitoring equipment;May supervise at least one Collection Systems Technician to include evaluating and signing performance appraisals, and initiating disciplinary action.Minimum QualificationsCompletion of the twelfth school grade and two (2) years of experience in the construction, maintenance, repair, and/or inspection of wastewater collection lines. Substitution(s): A certificate of high school equivalence (GED) will be accepted in lieu of a high school diploma.Possession of a valid driver's license.Test/Job Contact InformationQUALIFYING NONCOMPETITIVE EXAMINATION ANNOUNCEMENT: The names of the applicants passing this administration of this exam will be MERGED, according to score, with the names of applicants on the current eligible list. If you are interested in having your name included on the new eligible list, you will need to apply for this exam within the filing period and successfully complete all phases of the testing process. Questions regarding this process can be directed to the Test Center at 614-645-7439.The examination process will consist of a multiple-choice exam weighted 75% covering Sewer Systems, Safety, Public Relations, and Reading Maps and Atlas Pages; and a computer skills exam weighted 25% covering Word 2013, Outlook 2010, and Record Locating.The exam is expected to be administered in April-May. Approved applicants will be notified by mail/email of their scheduled test date and time.All applicants must complete all phases of the testing process in order to receive a final score. The names of all candidates who pass this examination will remain on the eligible list for two years, unless the eligible list is replaced prior to or extended beyond the two years.
