- You will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and holding team members accountable to ensure expectations are met.
- Answer daily inquiries and assist in solving shop floor problems.
- Achieve productivity goals and make necessary staffing adjustments to capture productivity project savings.
- Organize and implement the daily production plan for the respective area of responsibility.
- Communicate staffing and efficiency changes of critical work areas and monitor daily execution against the plan to determine capacity changes (overtime or employee transfers) required to execute the schedule.
- Utilize ERP system to support labor and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain work areas to meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Manages shop floor vacations in order to ensure the production plan is executed.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel the upkeep and repair of tools and machinery to maximize operating capacity and longevity.
- Maintain good working knowledge of current labor agreement.
- Assure that employees are thoroughly trained and properly assigned on a daily basis.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Work closely with team leaders to ensure their development and that they have all the necessary tools to complete their job.
- Develop a cross trained work force
- Responsible for ensuring that footwear is produced economically, on time, and of the highest quality.
- Produces footwear according to estimates through proper supervision, motivation, and leadership of employees, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the department.
- Organizes and supervises the production of footwear.
- Implements measures necessary to eliminate waiting time, wastage of materials, and extra wages.
- Ensures strict compliance with all regulations contained in the Occupational Safety and Health Act and assures adherence to all plant safety rules.
- Timely review and approval of payroll.
- Works closely with the HR department in hiring process and in the investigate and settling of labor grievances.
- Associates degree in Supervisory Management, Logistics or related field; in lieu of, at least 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in warehousing or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing, warehousing and logistics functions and processes.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- An effective ability to to collaborate with employees and vendors.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to life and/or move up to 50+ pounds.
- Possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record.
- Experience in a union setting preferred.
