for more information.Official Position Description:Independently manages complex projects (e.g., new location, new alignment, multilane or bidirectional reconstruction, right-of-way) by generating detailed drawings (e.g., using Computer-Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) computer software) utilizing engineering principles (e.g., structural steel design, structural concrete design, hydraulic design, geometric design, statistical analysis & cost analysis) in development of construction project plans for specific portions of construction, maintenance & planning of transportation projects (e.g., applies knowledge of soils, slope of land & availability of existing drainage & structural design to establish precedents & improve efficiency, safety, economy & environmental compatibility). Reviews highway & right-of-way plans, contracts & cost estimates to ensure technical accuracy. Completes necessary calculations involving area & traverse closure; prepares descriptions, ensuring technical accuracy & compliance with right-of-way design manuals. Ensures accurate & timely updating of management information systems as they relate to program delivery (e.g., Ellis & Time Management System (TMS)) & ensures their business rules, policies & procedures are implemented, used & maintained as standard business practice in designated work environments.Analyzes right-of-way documents (e.g., engineering source documents) in preliminary development stage in order to ensure accuracy & compliance with specifications. Participates in surveying, layout & other preparation involved in right-of-way installations. Prepares reports & cost estimates. Reviews routine right-of-way engineering studies & summarizes same for higher-level engineer(s).Meets with general public, government officials & property owners in order to provide information regarding proposed & ongoing right-of-way projects. Confers with higher-level engineer(s) in order to gain assistance in resolving unusual problems. Uses CADD to prepare & revise plans & prepare appropriation court exhibits & excess land plats. Provides technical assistance & direction to office staff. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.-Or Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.Job Skills: Civil Engineering
