Robotics CoachChristiansburg High School2024-2025MCPS Internal Applicants OnlyMontgomery County Public Schools is accepting applications for a robotics coach to co-teach the Robotics evening course for the 2024-2025 school year. The robotics course will meet twice per week from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the robotics classroom at Christiansburg High School. Additionally, the robotics instructor will help oversee the workshop during a six-week long "build season" each evening from approximately the first week in January through the third week in February.JOB DESCRIPTION:The robotics coach will assist in developing and teaching project-based lessons that expose students to programming, computer-aided design, circuits, metal fabrication, and the engineering design process. The robotics coach will supervise high school students as they design, build, and test a FIRST Robotics Competition robot (www.usfirst.org/frc). The robotics coach will also assist in planning and organizing overnight trips to regional and national competitions and assist instructors with organizing a parent booster group and fundraising.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a current Montgomery County Public Schools' teacher
Ability to be dependable and punctual
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Working knowledge of modern programming language such as Java, C++, or the LabView programming environment
Knowledge of drafting or 3D animation software such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or 3D Studio Max
Operating knowledge of stationary and portable power tools (mill, lathe, band saw, welder, drill driver, grinder, etc.)
Ability to solve high level math problems
Experience in sculpture/design
Experience in physics and/or chemistry
OSHA safety training
