- Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys® TeleSitter® Solution software. • Maintains visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. Immediately notifies the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate observation to the patient population requiring AvaSys monitoring. • Participates in report with on-coming monitor staff when arriving for shift, and upon completion of shift. Reviews pertinent information and behaviors. • Provides patient with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions. • Provides floor staff with information in a timely fashion when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to appropriate staff members. • Communicates with members of the health care team, patients and visitors using oral and written means and equipment such as the telephone, intercom and vocera system. • Maintains an orderly, clean and business-like environment at the nursing station and surrounding areas to assist members of the health care team in the performance of their jobs despite high stress factors. • Maintains professional competence through formal education, workshops and unit specific education. Maintains currency of educational file. Attends 80% or greater staff meetings, reviews and initials those meeting Minutes not attended. Completes unit mandatory education. • Performs specified duties during a hospital wide emergency. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
