We serve a population of over 250,000 and feature two hospitals, two urgent cares, an emergent care center, outpatient services and a provider network with 19 regional locations.SummaryUnder the direction of the Nurse Manager and supervision of the Charge Nurse, provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors. Directs the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys® TeleSitter® Solution software. • Maintains visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in patient room. Immediately notifies the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide the appropriate observation to the patient population requiring AvaSys monitoring. • Participates in report with on-coming monitor staff when arriving for shift, and upon completion of shift. Reviews pertinent information and behaviors. • Provides patient with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions. • Provides floor staff with information in a timely fashion when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participates in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to appropriate staff members. • Communicates with members of the health care team, patients and visitors using oral and written means and equipment such as the telephone, intercom and vocera system. • Maintains an orderly, clean and business-like environment at the nursing station and surrounding areas to assist members of the health care team in the performance of their jobs despite high stress factors. • Maintains professional competence through formal education, workshops and unit specific education. Maintains currency of educational file. Attends 80% or greater staff meetings, reviews and initials those meeting Minutes not attended. Completes unit mandatory education. • Performs specified duties during a hospital wide emergency. • Performs other related duties as assigned.
