- Perform monthly inventory of tools and equipment; perform preventive maintenance inspection of equipment and vehicles; perform daily inspection and cleaning of solid waste collection vehicle; perform operating tasks required to maintain community solid waste collection container and transfer stations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date list of solid waste customers, making sure new customers are added and picked up; maintain record of number of collections at a particular site, type of refuse disposed.
- Maintain daily log of equipment and vehicles (usage, mileage, tune-ups, etc.).
- Transport solid waste to off-reservation landfills.
- Operate solid waste collection vehicles.
- Investigate and resolve solid waste complaints; conduct daily check of “Work Order Board” to ensure complaints and work orders are handled promptly (daily).
- Complete and submit “Work Orders” on all jobs performed; collect and submit all receipts, invoices and landfill tickets on a daily basis.
- Inspect, clean, sanitize and repair solid waste containers.
- May be required to cross-train into water distribution and wastewater collection system.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of the lay out of the Gila River Indian Community.
- Knowledge of hazards and applicable safety rules and precautions of equipment operation.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved with equipment operation.
- Skill and ability to operate various types of trucks and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, Community Officials and the general public.
- Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position; agree to maintain a Drug-free workplace.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Class B or a Class A Commercial Driver's license.
- Required to obtain a Tribal Operator's permit. Valid state driver's license with a current proof of driving record for the past 39 months will be required to qualify for a tribal driving permit. Proof of driving record must be submitted with application and must not be more than 60 days old from the date of submission of the application.
